General Questions
I am getting a "Cannot Load Visual FoxPro" message when trying to execute the EZ Maintenance application
The reason you are receiving this message is due to a corruption in the workstation install, or because the necessary DLL files were not extracted during setup. To fix this, please download and run http://www.ez-maintenance.com/files/workstation.exe
I have multiple offices that are not on the same network, does each office need to have a copy of EZ Maintenance to print out their own work orders?
Yes, if you have multiple offices not on the same network, each office needs to have its own copy of EZ Maintenance and its own license to operate the program.

The installation instructions say that I need to map the network drive before I do a workstation install... How do I do this?
Right-click the "My Computer" icon on the workstation and select "Map Network Drive."
Assign a letter to your new drive, then browse to the EZ-Maintenance directory on the server for the folder. Click "finish."
To verify that it has been completed successfuly, open "My computer" and double click the new drive and make sure it opens and gives you the correct folder on the server.
How do I verify that I have the correct write permissions on my network?
A simple way to verify this is to to navigate to the installation folder on your server from a remote workstation and try to create a new folder. If you are able to do this then you have the correct permissions. If you are not, then you will need to change them from the server.
I have encountered an error message that tells me a certain file is not suitable when I install or start EZ Maintenance, how can I resolve this issue?
This error is completely unrelated to the EZ Maintenance software, and is a bug in the Windows XP Operating System. To find out how to resolve this issue, visit http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;324767
I noticed that when I tried to run the program it placed a bunch of files on the desktop.
This is because you have the actual full exe file on the desktop rather then a shortcut, which can usually be caused by accidentally copy/pasting the icon rather than copying a shortcut. If you are on the server, just delete the icon and make a new shortcut to the real .exe file which will be on the hard drive (c:\Program Files\ezmaintenance2) by default. If you are on a workstation, delete the icon and open the mapped network drive to find the .exe and create a shortcut to it. Depending on what version of windows you are using... Simply dragging the .exe to the desktop may not create a shortcut. Right-click and then drag and drop it, then select "create shortcut here" from the popup menu.
When I run the workstation install as soon as the progress bar finishes, the dialog box disappears.
The dialog box will indeed disappear on a workstation install once it is complete, however this does not mean that the installation did not finish. You should continue on with the instructions of installing EZ Maintenance on a workstation.
I receive an error message saying "Invalid File Descriptor" whenever I open EZ Maintenance.
This is due to invalid file permissions on the EZMaintenance2 folder that is located on the server. Please make sure that the workstation user has FULL rights to this folder. One way to check is to do the following: From the workstation, go into the mapped drive you created for EZ Maintenance and right click on a white area. Select New > New Text Document. If you get an error message saying Access Denied, then you are having permission issues. Consult with your Network Administrator if you are unsure of how to grant access rights to a folder in Microsoft Windows, or E Mail support@linkitsoftware.com

How do we schedule maintenance and service? Do we have to type in each service date?
No. You simply enter the preventive maintenance or service to be performed, and then enter the cycle; i.e. every day, every week, every month, etc. EZ Maintenance fleet maintenance software will automatically schedule the preventive maintenance or service on an on going basis from the day you schedule the first maintenance on the cycle you have selected. In other words, if you, for example, have a preventive maintenance or service you want to have take place once each week, when you enter the work you want done weekly, EZ Maintenance fleet maintenance software will automatically schedule that preventive maintenance to take place weekly thereafter.

How do we track what work was actually done and when?
Completed preventive maintenance and service activity can either be electronically signed off as completed within EZ Maintenance preventive maintenance software by the person performing the work, or a work order with a signature line can be printed, which can be signed by the person performing the work, and then filed as a hard copy. Such work orders contain a list of all procedures to be performed and the materials to be used, so once signed a verified record exists that not only the preventive maintenance or service was performed, but the exact procedures followed and the parts and materials used, and all costs.

What happens if we miss a scheduled maintenance or service?
EZ Maintenance fleet maintenance software allows a supervisor to note the reason, and to reschedule the work (this must be done by a supervisor so work cannot be missed or rescheduled without management control). When the work is rescheduled and completed, EZ Maintenance fleet maintenance software automatically adjusts the calendar by rescheduling the balance of the maintenance . In other words, if a weekly preventive maintenance day is missed by four days, and the work is then done, EZ Maintenance fleet maintenance software reschedules the rest of the maintenance weekly from the day the work was actually done.
